Salem were competitive in the early going, keeping the game within reach during the first and second periods.  Salem only trailed by two points after the 1st quarter and were within single digits going into halftime.  In the second half, the Cougars broke open the game led by four players scoring in double digits.  Brooke Carthon had 16 points, Camryn Lunsford added 13 points, Alixis Roccia with 12 points, and Kiara Smith chipped in with 10 points on the night for the Cougars.

Coach Mohney, "For the first time in our last couple of games we came out on a run and ready to play. We've continued to preach energy in the first. Averett came out ready to go after the half and hit some big shots for them to the lead.  In true Salem fashion, we stayed composed and fought to make it a game as we had it to 12 points with three minutes remaining. You have to admire the fight and determination that these student-athletes have in each game."

Salem is back in action on Saturday as they host Meredith College in their final home game of the season. Tip off is slated for 2:00pm.
